Maltese jazz guitarist and composer currently based in Paris, France. Studied at the University of Malta and at the Conservatoire de Lyon (D.E.M.) Has won several awards including 3rd prize at the Concours National de la Defense 2004, and Special Mention for Composition in 2005. Has played/recorded with a variety of internationally renowned jazz artists including Francesco Bearzatti, Nico Gori, Youn Sun Nah, Marcia Maria, Aline de Lima, Amy Gamlen, Yutaka Shiina etc. Sandro is a regular member of the Nico Gori European 4tet (with whom he recently released a CD on the Italian label Doublestroke Records), Botafogo, Robin Nicaise 6tet and he leads his own quintet - White Russian 5tet (with whom he recently released his debut CD). Sandro has performed worldwide in clubs and festivals amongst which - Istanbul Jazz Center (Istanbul, Turkey), Malta Jazz Festival (Valletta, Malta), Seoul CT Jazz Festival (Seoul, S.Korea), Teatro Studio Scandicci (Florence, Italy), Teatro Coccia (Novara, Italy), Salumeria della Musica (Milan, Italy), Music Village (Bruxelles, Belgium) and many others. Sandro holds also regular engagements in Parisian jazz. He is artistic director for Jazz Fringe festival in Malta and holds a teaching post in the Pontault Combault Conservatory in France.
