Pierre Lognay manages his projects in jazz and world music since 1986.  From his journeys in New York in the late ’90s, musicians like Mark Turner, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Seamus Blake, Melvin Butler, Chander Sardjoe, Stéphane Galland, Linley Marthe, Mark Zubek, Philippe Thomas, Bilou Doneux, … have been part of the project « The New International Edition ». With this jazz band, Pierre Lognay had the opportunity to show up on the international stage (New York, Paris, Bruxelles, Luxembourg, Ankara, …).  The cd of  Pierre Lognay, received excellent reviews : Jazz Hot  « A starry disc which could become essential as time goes on » ; Pierre Dulieu A handwritten letter on the cover of the disc presents Pierre Lognay as « … tremendously talented and gifted musician … ».  When you realize that it’s the famous Herbie Hancock himself that has signed this, honestly, what else can you say !   And now, listen to what he’s doing with his guitar in Afro Yambi Jazz!
The band is born from the encounter in 2005 of a jazz musician Pierre Lognay with an african musician, Pedro Mbelani and the desire for Pierre Lognay to bring up to the audience the musical roots and the poly-rythms from Congo revisited through his broad knowledge of music and his incredible job done to appropriate himself the “african way” of playing guitar.  Pierre Lognay wants also to promote musical and cultural exchanges between professional artists.  And by this way Pierre Lognay takes part to the idea developed by the ACP (African Carrabian Pacific countries) concerning the promotion of the culture.
