Minata was born in 1976 in Bobo-dioulasso, a small town of Burkina Faso. She’s been living in Belgium since she was 18. Minata is a song writer, a composer, a singer and a dancer. With a classical music education (classic guitar & opera singing), she charms us with melodies sometimes soft, sometimes bluesy, always carrying the experience of living within and between two continents: Africa and Europe. She expresses her music in a simple and poetic, yet very strong willed, way. Going from French to Dioula, her mothertongue, she jugles with traditional and European sonorities. A guitar à la Tracy Chapman, a voice evoking Khadja Nin’s, Minata gives us a sheer moment of pleasure.
