Mátyás Szabó was born in Tapolca, Hungary. After attending the Bartók Béla Conseratory Budapest he graduated as a percussionist from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music Budapest. Since the years spent in the Academy he has worked together with the Amadinda Percussion Group, the UMZE (Association of New Music, Hungary) ensamble, the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra and with such world wide known composers as Eötvös Péter, Sofia Gubajdulina, Steve Reich. During his studies his special field of interest changed and turned to world and experimental music. Recently he takes part in different world music and theater projects and is a drum teacher in the British International School Budapest.
