With the increasing number of recording companies setting up in the region, Phonopaca, the organization of publishers, producers and distributors of musical media based in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, was created in1998. Phonopaca has now about thirty members which fully represent the recording industry, producers, publishers, recording studios, distributors, concert promoter and booking agency, who provide for the richness and the relevance of the Organization. Thanks to its positive cultural image, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region (Paca), located in south-eastern France, has a wide range of artistic assets and has hosted the Midem, the international music market, in Cannes since 1966. Faced with this dynamic and with the increasing number of recording companies setting up in the region, Phonopaca, the organization of publishers, producers and distributors of musical media based in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, was created in 1998 on the initiative of about fifteen people working in the recording industry and the Arcade (regional agency for artistic coordination and development). Phonopaca has now about thirty members which fully represent the recording industry, producers, publishers, recording studios, and distributors, who provide for the richness and the relevance of the Organization. Phonopaca’s Board of Directors, composed of recording industry directors who share the same convictions, implements actions for the general interest of Phonopaca’s members. By its actions, Phonopaca helps its members to develop their structures, maintains the diversity of cultural products in the music market and promotes Paca’s recording industry visibility on the national and international scene. Additionally, Phonopaca’s members have easier access to several professional trade shows. Phonopaca’s team works in synergy with all the members. Phonopaca, the organization of publishers, producers and distributors of musical media based in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur operates with the financial support of : the Paca Region, the French Culture and Communication Ministry, the County commission of Bouches-du-Rhône, and the City of Marseilles. The program of actions is drawn up by the Committee and the Board of Directors, voted during the General Meeting, then coordinated by the Phonopaca’s permanent administrative team.
