The Bibliotheca Alexandrina Arts Center encourages active programs through workshops, training and artistic appreciation that encourage children and adults to develop their creative skills and refine their talents in various fields, such as choir singing, playing music, painting, visual arts, and the basic principles of artistic criticism. Not only does the Arts Center hold educational programs, but it has become a pioneer in introducing projects and events that are new to the artistic and cultural community. Events such as the two recently established biennales on contemporary Egyptian art and Egyptian culture in general, held alternately, have become active strongholds in the artistic world. The first is the International Biennale for the Artist’s Book, concerned with the creativity of artists in designing and producing the conceptual book. It combines text, image and manual artistic printing techniques in a creative competition amongst artists from across the world.
