Following two successful edition of the EuroMed Music Festival – in 2007 in Budapest (Hungary) and in 2009 in Budapest, Belgrade (Serbia) and Katowice (Poland) – CREMM will organize the three-day festivals closely following each other in the three mentioned cities from 3rd to 13th of June, 2010. The preceding five-day workshop will take place in Budapest. For the concerts multi-national teams will be formed, with the participation of altogether 37 musicians from the partner countries, 11 from different European countries and 9 from the South-Mediterranean countries, such as Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, Israel and Turkey. These teams are to create joint productions promoting artistic fusion in the European musical fields, such as jazz, ethno and world music during the four day workshop. This involves a collective creation of artistic products, thus supporting new European identities, cultural pluralism and enforcing mutual enrichment of contemporary creations between Europe and its Mediterranean neighbors. By finding points that are common in these different types of music, the musicians are to create fusion compositions that simultaneously reach out to the audiences of the different cultures they represent.
By introducing a part of the so far little known North African and Middle Eastern musical culture to the region we would like to show how music can be a mediating tool between cultures, and how a point can be reached where the different cultures join, creating new, universal values. Our aim is to promote the approach that living in a culturally diverse surrounding is not a burden requiring openness and tolerance from the majority, but it provides a chance for a more colorful life, enabling a greater extent of intellectual enrichment.

Dates od the festival:
Budapest 8-10 June, 2010
Belgrade 9-11 June, 2010
Katowice 11-13 June, 2010
